How long does it take to open an injection mold?

Sep 06, 2023

1. Product structure: refers to the structural difficulty of the plastic part sample provided by the customer. It can generally be understood as follows: the more complex the shape of the plastic part, the more difficult it is to make the mold. Technically speaking, the more parting surfaces a plastic part has, the more assembly positions, buckle positions, holes and ribs there are, the greater the processing difficulty will be. In both cases, the mold production time will be extended accordingly. Generally speaking, the more complex the mold structure is, the lower its quality will be, the more difficult it will be to process, the more problems there will be, and the slower it will be to achieve the final product effect.

2. Product size: Yes, the larger the size, the longer the plastic mold processing cycle will be. In contrast, the processing time of spare parts will also be longer.
3. Product requirements: Different customers must have different product requirements. Whether the designed appearance is matte, glossy or mirror, all affects the production cycle of plastic molds.

4. Product material performance: Our products often have special requirements, and the requirements for mold steel and processing technology are also different. For example, in the early stage of injection molding, molds for medical and cosmetic packaging materials were used. The purpose of adding ceramics is for insulation and fire protection, which is generally used in LED molds. On lighting. The requirements for the mold are different. The mold needs to be hardened. After hardening, the precision grinder will perform CNC again. The subsequent processing will be more difficult and naturally more time-consuming. Some molds require anti-corrosion or soft plastic molds. They will all be different, and the manufacturing process will be more complex.
5. The number of cavities of the mold: that is, how many cavities a set of molds has, and how many products can be produced by a set of molds. It depends on the size of the customer's product market. There is definitely a difference between making two products and one product. Processing The time will also be different. Normally, for new products, since the market has not yet been fully opened, the market demand for the product is not that great. At this time, the number of holes in the injection mold is not required, and market supply can be guaranteed, and the price/performance ratio is relatively the highest. Of course, after the product market matures, the number of cavities in the mold will definitely increase. It depends on the market demand to determine whether to change the number of cavities to feed back the market demand.
